The ISC Academy is our Youth Soccer Recreational League for 5 to 10 year olds, held over the course of eight weeks in both the spring and fall of each year. The ISC Academy was started in the fall of 1997 in order to provide an alternative program to other recreational soccer programs in Iowa City. Although the ISC is also a competitive soccer club with more than 15 competitive youth teams, we are extremely proud of our recreational program. The same knowledgeable professional coaches that direct our competitive teams have made a commitment to overseeing the development of the youth players in the Academy. The ISC Academy staff has worked hard to put together a recreational program that suits the needs of young children. Academy coaches do not use tedious drills requiring laps, long lines, and lectures. We recognize young players find these boring and frustrating. The Academy keeps kids excited about the game because they get many touches on the ball while staying in constant motion. We feel strongly that this program is the best introduction to the game of soccer available in the Iowa City area. Next: Goals |
