Best Effort Award U15-Adult Divisions
Description:
The Best Effort Award was established to recognize those
players in the U15-Adult Divisions who demonstrate a commitment to
their team through the energy, passion, and intensity that they
contribute to every minute of every game. There is no higher
achievement than the satisfaction of giving your best effort every time
you commit yourself to anything that you do in life. Therefore, we have
established this award to promote the value of hard work and commitment
with the young men and women who compete in our tournament. Only one
player in each of the age divisions from U15-Adult is honored with this
award. The player that receives this award will have the high
distinction of being recognized as the hardest working player in their
age group. This award is a tribute to the players. We want all of the
players who compete in our tournament to know that whether their team
wins or loses, we appreciate those players whose effort and passion for
the game help make each game a worthwhile experience for all of the
participants.
Unlike the Fair Play Award given to players in the U8-U14
divisions of the Bubble Blowout, the "Best Effort Award" is not solely
a sportsmanship award. We are primarily trying to identify players who
maintain a high work rate and intensity in each of their matches. We
are looking to reward players that know how to put their team ahead of
themselves and who have enough respect for the game to play with
passion, energy, and commitment at all times. However, there is a
sportsmanship component to this award and we will not nominate players
that are consistently abusive to their teammates, opponents, parents,
or the referees. We want to recognize players that are extremely tough,
committed, team players who can deal with adversity in game situations
without losing control. Tough and physical play do not disqualify
someone from winning the "Best Effort Award". We are very careful to
remind our field marshals that this award is given to U15 players and
older. Players that are U15 and older engage in more physical play than
the younger kids. Therefore, we have made it clear to the field
marshals in their instructional packet to consider that Aggressive
play should be considered in the context of the age division.
We try to make sure that the field marshals make the distinction
between "tough players" and "dirty players". In sum, the "Best Effort
Award" is not solely a sportsmanship award, but players will not be
considered for this award if they demonstrate consistent poor sporting
behavior throughout the tournament.
Nomination Process:
One player is nominated from each regular pool game by the field
marshal assigned to the game. Please note that the nominations are
taken only from pool games. We do not nominate players from semi-final
or final matches. The field marshal considers the criteria for the
award described above and will inform the player's coach at the end of
the game that a player on their team has been nominated. In most cases,
the field marshal will need to ask the coach to give them the name of
the player so the field marshal can write the name down and submit the
name to the Tournament Director. Once all of the regular pool games are
finished, the Tournament Director will look through the list of names
nominated and will select the player that has been nominated the most
often as the winner.
Award Notification:
There is a notification display located by the registration desk for
the tournament that lists the "Best Effort" award winners. Once the
pool play is finished for a particular age group, the Tournament
Director will look through the nominees, select the winner through the
process described above, and then we will post the winner on the
display. We try to ask each of the players that have been nominated for
the "Best Effort" award to wait until the winner of the "Best Effort"
award has been posted before they leave for the day. After the winner
has been announced, we ask that the winner approach the front desk and
we will present the winner with the award. All winners will be given a
plaque and their picture will be taken to be displayed on the Bubble
Blowout website.
